Diva Challenge #294

The Diva Challenge #294:  "Reticula/Fragment Beginning".  Here is the link for more info on this challenge: DivaChallenge

This week's challenge is to draw a reticulum [grid] (pl. reticula) and fragments - 'elements that fill in the reticula.'  These can be found in Rick & Maria's book Zentangle Primer Vol 1.  If you do not have the book, see the Diva's advice at the above link.  Looking forward to seeing what you've done.

I chose to work on Bijou tiles. Here are my entries for this week's challenge:
Reticula:  basic grid
Fragment:  W6 with different rotations
 Reticula:  RA3
(I forgot to take a photo of it before I added the fragments)
Fragment:  T7
As you can see, with the different rotation of the fragment,
 the tangle Assunta appears
Here is fragment T7 in a basic reticula (grid) with the same rotation as the above
2nd Bijou, where you can definitely see the tangle Assunta emerge.
I did not shade this, as I like to show the progression of steps on Bijou tiles.

I feel extraordinarily lucky that I was able to attend ZenAgain.  It was an amazing, positive experience.  I cannot thank Rick, Maria and the entire Zentangle staff for such an exceptional event.  I am still digesting everything, and hopefully I can regroup now that the Thanksgiving holiday is over...I wish that all of you could have been there with me!

Thank you for visiting.
Comments are welcomed and appreciated, or just
say hello.  Cheers and happy tangling!
Have a wonderful week.

  1. Great post! Thanks so much for sharing your process. I don't own the book so I'm piecing together a lot of information and reading a lot of blog posts. This was really helpful.
